  • Exclusive: Stackable plug connectors for power distribution

By Control Engineering Staff -- Control Engineering, 10/30/2006

Duplicon, stackable, IP67-compliant plug connector system from Phoenix Contact can be used for bus and 24-V applications and as a plug connector, coupler, and T-distributor.

Duplicon, stackable, IP67-compliant plug connector system from Phoenix Contact, is said to offer uninterrupted communication from the mounting rail in the control cabinet across the decentralized power distributor to device connections in the field. Designed for high-efficiency power distribution in large-scale machinery, the system is intended for machines and drives in conveying systems technology, material handling, and rail industries. It enables connection for lines with 6 x 4 sq mm plus PE (ground connection), 400 V, 25 A for power, and a 24 V ASi bus.

System can be used for bus and 24-V applications and as a plug connector, coupler, and T-distributor. Featuring compact and universal screw connector technology and multi-conductor connection options, it is compatible with Phoenix Contact ST Combi plug connectors. Direct PCB connection is available in 90° and 180° models to eliminate the need for one switching level.

Housing is die-cast aluminum with an ergonomic plastic grip. It is resistant to salt water, vibration, UV exposure, and other industrial conditions and is electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) protected. Removable cover makes the system easy to inspect and test. The square design allows for flexible cable connections in 90° increments. Pluggable design allows all cables to be assembled quickly and conveniently on site.

Duplicon can be installed in a centralized location or distributed throughout a plant and can extend over distances of 20 to 50 m with a connection density of two to five m. All connections are touch-proof in accordance with standard DIN VDE 0105 and fulfill the requirements of BGV A2 accident-prevention regulations.
