  • PLC I/O interfaces join legacy PLCs to DeltaV

    Mynah Technologies' PLC I/O interfaces

    Staff -- Control Engineering, 1/1/2005

Mynah Technologies' line of PLC I/O interfaces aids migration from legacy systems to Emerson Process Management's DeltaV system. Mynah's solution includes three main interfaces.

The first, IOD-1401, is a PLC I/O interface for GE Genius I/O. It serves as a migration path for GE PLCs that use Genius Block I/O and ABB Mod300 Systems that use TRIO I/O. It supports simplex or redundant Genius Bus installations. PLC Explorer Genius Bus upload allows migration without Genius Bus configuration.

The second, IOD-1402, is a PLC I/O interface for Allen-Bradley 1771 remote I/O. It serves as a migration path for A-B PLC5 and PLC3 that use 1771 Remote I/O. It's limited by the 1771 remote I/O bus to simplex installations only.

The third, IOD-1403, is a PLC I/O interface for Modicon/Quantum S908 remote I/O. It serves as a migration path for Modicon PLCs and GSE D3 Systems that use S908 remote I/O. It supports simplex or redundant Modicon and GSE installations.

Each PLC I/O interface includes a PLC I/O interface hardware module (including mounting carrier and all connectors); DeltaV serial interface card custom driver license and media; and PLC Explorer configuration utility license and media. www.mynah.com

    • Interfaces with legacy GE Genius I/O, Allen-Bradley 1771, Modicon/Quantum S908

    • Works with newer process systems, such as DeltaV, Modbus TCP/IP, and Ethernet/IP

    • Interfaces have PLC I/O interface hardware modules

    • Delta V serial interface card driver licenses included

      Engineering with Ethernet

The debate about Ethernet's viability on the plant floor is no longer an issue for most engineers. Their concerns now focus on the variety of specifications and possibilities for industrial Ethernet-ranging from protocols, switch architectures, and Power over Ethernet to safety concerns, legacy network connection issues and wireless possibilities.

      Technologies for Regulatory Compliance

Regulatory compliance is an issue which is becoming increasingly critical for manufacturers of all types as federal agencies clamp down on violations of all types.
