    Controllers:  Modicon M340 PAC

    Schneider Electric

High performance 32-bit processor, 64 interrupts, advanced multi-tasking operating system and support for all five IEC 61131-3 programming languages, make the Modicon M340 PAC capable of handling the most demanding applications. The processor incorporates up to 4 MB of internal memory (data storage upgradeable to 16 MB), an SD card for permanent flash memory backup, a mini-USB port, and two additional communication ports (choose from Ethernet, CANopen or Modbus). Both compact and rugged, the Modicon M340 PAC exceeds IEC industrial standards and can be programmed using Schneider Electric’s Unity Pro IEC 61131-3 development software.

Discrete sensors & readers:  AccuProx Analog Inductive Sensor

    Eaton Corporation

The Cutler-Hammer AccuProx from Eaton’s electrical business provides unmatched sensing range, linearity, and resolution in an affordable, compact tubular package. Unlike standard inductive sensors, which send an open or close signal upon target presence or absence, AccuProx analog sensors provide an electrical signal that varies in proportion to the position of the metal target within its sensing range. This makes it ideal for applications requiring precise position sensing and measurement. Utilizing components from the iProx family, AccuProx provides sensing ranges of three to four times that of typical tubular analog inductive sensors without compromising accuracy.

Embedded products:  ThinkCore W345 embedded computer

    MOXA Technologies

ThinkCore W345 is a RISC-based, ready-to-run embedded computer with four software-selectable RS-232/422/485 serial ports, quad band 850/900/1800/1900 MHz for cellular connections, 1 Ethernet port, 2 USB 2.0 hosts, 1 relay output, and an SD socket for external storage expansion. The MOXA ART 32-bit ARM9 processor and the built-in Linux OS provide a powerful and reliable platform for harsh industrial environments, promising an ideal solution for industrial M2M applications, such as data acquisition, protocol conversion, and remote device control and monitoring.

      Engineering with Ethernet

The debate about Ethernet's viability on the plant floor is no longer an issue for most engineers. Their concerns now focus on the variety of specifications and possibilities for industrial Ethernet-ranging from protocols, switch architectures, and Power over Ethernet to safety concerns, legacy network connection issues and wireless possibilities.

      Technologies for Regulatory Compliance

Regulatory compliance is an issue which is becoming increasingly critical for manufacturers of all types as federal agencies clamp down on violations of all types.
