  • Rockwell unveils applications for enterprise connectivity, Web HMIs

    Rockwell Automation releases VantagePoint Line Edition, FactoryTalk Viewpoint, and FactoryTalk Integrated Production and Performance Suite software. See photos and links.

    Nashville, TN – Enterprise connectivity, visualization, and production performance will improve, accroding to announcements from Rockwell Automation at its annual Automation Fair 2008, with the introduction of new and enhanced products, the company said.

    Rockwell Automation FactoryTalk ViewPoint software provides scalable, animated Web applications from existing FactoryTalk View applications, the company says.

    Announcements include:

    • VantagePoint Line Edition software to configure Web-based dashboards, trends, and reports for FactoryTalk Integrated Production and Performance Suite;

    • FactoryTalk ViewPoint software for scalable, animated Web applications from existing FactoryTalk View applications; and

    • FactoryTalk Integrated Production and Performance Suite to support industry-specific applications.

    VantagePoint Line Edition software integrates data from multiple plant-floor information systems (click link above to see photo and more information): Rockwell Automation FactoryTalk VantagePoint for its FactoryTalk Integrated Production and Performance Suite allows end users to self-configure Web-based dashboards, trends, and reports. FactoryTalk VantagePoint software leverages the FactoryTalk service-oriented architecture and technology acquired through the company’s purchase of Incuity Software to deliver automatic access to production information from both Rockwell Automation and third-party systems.

    FactoryTalk industry-specific applications launched: Configurable applications are designed to reduce cost of ownership and improve flexibility for automotive, food and pharmaceutical manufacturers. Rockwell Automation expanded the platform capabilities of its FactoryTalk Integrated Production and Performance Suite to support industry-specific applications for the automotive, consumer packaged goods, and pharmaceutical industries. The platform includes configuration tools and capabilities designed to help manufacturers reduce deployment costs and time.

    Scalable, animated Web HMI applications: FactoryTalk ViewPoint software: FactoryTalk ViewPoint software from Rockwell Automation displays scalable, animated Web applications from existing FactoryTalk View applications. Just as sports fans use Internet-capable devices to get the latest information about favorite teams, manufacturers can remotely monitor plant-floor operations status with FactoryTalk ViewPoint software from Rockwell Automation. It is among the first commercially available, thin-client applications for manufacturing built using the new Microsoft Silverlight technology. The initial release extends visualization and real-time decision capabilities beyond FactoryTalk View clients to browser-based remote users.

    Rockwell Automation tells more about how more than 11,000 Automation Fair attendees explored the global manufacturing landscape at its annual event.
