  • Cypress Envirosystems and Invensys form alliance to deliver energy-efficient automated control

Cypress Envirosystems' wireless control and monitoring solutions are compatible with Wonderware applications.

David Greenfield -- Control Engineering, 11/15/2009

Cypress Envirosystems, a subsidiary of Cypress Semiconductor Corp., and Invensys Operations Management, have formed a strategic technology alliance around the interoperability between Cypress Envirosystems' wireless monitoring and control solutions and Wonderware software, including its new Corporate Energy Management application.

Cypress Envirosystems' develops technologies designed to enable older buildings and manufacturing sites to adopt the latest automation technologies at an affordable cost, and with minimal disruption to existing occupants, processes, and staff. The company's snap-on products install in minutes and typically provide payback within 12 months. (Read a Control Engineering report on Cypress Environmental products). The alliance with Invensys includes Cypress Envirosystems' Wireless Gauge Reader, the Wireless Steam Trap Monitor, the Wireless Transducer Reader, and the Wireless Pneumatic Thermostat.

"The first step in any plant energy efficiency initiative is to establish a baseline from which to measure improvement," said Harry Sim, CEO of Cypress Environmental. "That's where we fit in--to transfer the analog data that still exists in a plant into digital form. Our devices are the eyes and ears at the plant level for systems like Wonderware's Corporate Energy Management application."
