Numerous innovations launched at ISA 2001

Staff -- Control Engineering, 10/1/2001

Houston, Tex.- Though shortened by Sept. 11's terrorist attacks, many exhibitors still managed to unveil a host of new products, solutions, and services at ISA 2001.

To help developers achieve real-time performance and determinism for Microsoft Windows-based applications, Data Translation (Marlboro, Mass.) released an RTX driver and library function calls for its DT300 and DT3010 series PCI data acquisition boards.

To handle the 300-MB-plus test and diagnostic files for debugging complex Ethernet- and DSL-enabled systems, Dolch Computer Systems (Fremont, Calif.) recently integrated a 650-MB CD-RW drive into its FlexPac multi-slot portable computers.

Iconics (Foxborough, Mass.) announced that it has formed a partnership with Stratus Technologies (Maynard, Mass.) to provide a complementary, fault-tolerant hardware/software solution for manufacturing operations. Stratus' ftServer system will serve as the fault-tolerant computing platform for Iconics' new OPC-based Gensis32 Enterprise Edition, Version 6.1, SCADA software.

Invensys (London, U.K.) announced that it has started selling its HART and analog pressure transmitters directly to customers worldwide at www.InvensysDirect.com.

Magnetrol International (Downers Grove, Ill.) introduced a new company, Orion Instruments (Baton Rouge, La.), created to devise new standards for quality and operability in magnetic level indicators. )

Panametrics (Waltham, Mass.) has created what it reports is the world's first clamp-on, ultrasonic flowmeter for gases at high or low pressure in metal pipes or other materials. DigitalFlow GC868 flowmeter was tested on 3- to 36-in. metal pipes containing air, hydrogen and natural gas.

Rockwell Automation's (Milwaukee, Wis.) Allen-Bradley ProcessLinx enables the OPC server in an Allen-Bradley ProcessLogix control system to communicate with other control system servers. Also, Rockwell's Enpac 1200 handheld data collector is capable of simultaneous two-channel data acquisition, while Enshare, a solution using Enpac, provides a range of diagnostic capabilities into one system, eliminating the need for multiple software programs or modules to integrate data.

Servomex (Norwood, Mass.) introduced its new Xendos 2200 paramagnetic oxygen analyzer, which is specifically designed for high performance measurements in the process industry. Linearity and repeatability are <0.01% and 0.02% O2, respectively.
