- Lantronix Inc. (Irvine, Calif.) on Dec. 18 bought US Software (Hillsboro, Ore.) for $7 million in stock and cash. The acquisition will add to Lantronix's engineering expertise and advance its Device Server Technology by enabling it to run on popular embedded hardware platforms.
- Honeywell Industrial Automation's (Phoenix, Ariz.) Hi-Spec Solutions business recently introduced its Advanced Steam Management (ASM) software application, and reported that using ASM increases electrical production by up to 2% and improves generation efficiencies in multi-turbine powerhouses in the process industries.
- Predator Software Inc. (Portland, Ore.) on Dec. 12 announced its acquisition of direct numeric control (DNC) software and shop-floor technology product lines from X_Net A/S, a Denmark-based developer of integrated DNC and shop-floor solutions. Most of the products will be re-released under the Predator name during 2001.
- Think&Do Software (Ann Arbor, Mich.) has released its Think&Do Studio, which integrates control and information technology with Microsoft Visio 2000. Announced earlier this year (seeControl Engineering, March '00, p. 45), Studio allows developers the ability to develop flow charts for control, HMI, and information sharing within the familiar Visio interface.
