Saab Marine Electronics joins Fisher-Rosemount

Staff -- Control Engineering, 2/1/2001

Chanhassen, Minn.—Fisher-Rosemount (F-R, Austin, Tex.) announced Jan. 15 that it has acquired Saab Marine Electronics AB, a leading expert in radar level gauging. Formerly a subsidiary of Saab AB, Saab Marine Electronics will become the level instrumentation center of excellence for Rosemount (Minneapolis, Minn.), F-R's pressure, temperature, and level measurement division.

"Adding Saab Marine Electronics to our Rosemount family of instrumentation solutions gives us a leading position in the rapidly growing land-based radar level gauging markets, strengthening an important component of our PlantWeb field-based architecture offering,'' says John Berra, F-R president and Emerson executive vp.

Rosemount president Ed Monser adds, "We'll be able to leverage Saab's radar technologies with Rosemount's capabilities in fieldbus and low-power instrumentation to deliver new level measurement products to our customers.''
