Coventry, England— The 320-member Open DeviceNet Vendors Association (ODVA, Boca Raton, Fla.) announced the formation of DeviceNet UK on June 16. This United Kingdom-based affiliate will promote the benefits of the DeviceNet network and related technologies. The affiliate was formed after DeviceNet vendors met here recently at the University of Warwick, which is also home of the three-year-old DeviceNet European Technical Support Center, which conducts DeviceNet conformance testing. "By segmenting its efforts, ODVA is able to identify and specially address the needs of each market," says Bill Moss, ODVA's executive director. As a result, DeviceNet UK will provides the educational and training programs needed for companies in this region to access DeviceNet's benefits, such as advanced diagnostics and reduced wiring."
