National Instruments provides vision system advice

Staff -- Control Engineering, 2/1/2000

Austin, Tex.— To help users find the right scientific imaging camera for their applications, National Instruments recently added a Camera Advisor service to its web site at www.ni.com/camera. This section of NI's site allows visitors to compare features and specifications for more than 100 cameras and machine vision systems from Sony, Dalsa, JAI, Kodak, Basler, and Pulnix.

Engineers and scientists can compare makes and models according to line scan, area scan, progressive scan, as well as examine digital and analog cameras. They can also compare technical details, such as sensor size, pixel depth, frame rate, and pixel clock rate.

"Building an image acquisition system requires planning," says John Hanks, NI's vision product manager. "Consideration must be given to how the camera and the computer interact, and Camera Advisor provides the information needed to make informed decisions."
