PC Soft International renamed eMation

Staff -- Control Engineering, 2/1/2000

Oak Brook, Ill.— PC Soft International (Mansfield, Mass.) has been renamed "eMation." The firm manufactures web-enabled SCADA and other control software, including the WizFactory product suite. The company has also moved its headquarters to Mansfield, Mass., from Tel Aviv, Israel. The former headquarters will remain an R&D center. The firm reports its new name reflects increasing Internet influence on its products, as well as an effort to expand its offerings to include e-business products and consulting solutions. In a Jan. 20 interview with Control Engineering editors here, Randall Thompson, eMation's marketing director, said the firm plans to expand its scope to encompass bringing real-time information from embedded computing platforms through enterprise-wide systems. Products and services will enable customers to use existing Internet communications to enhance services and revenues. Unity—the company's next generation scalable web-enabled visualization software for Microsoft Windows NT, NT Embedded, and CE—was announced and demonstrated in October 1999. Unity supports XML WAP, Universal Plug and Play, and other connectivity standards. Versions for Linux and VxWorks are under development.
