New York, N.Y. — Olflex-FD 855 P continuous flex cable from Olflex Wire & Cable (Fairfield, N.J.) helped ring in 2000 and the new millennium as part of a newly redesigned New Year's Eve ball that lit up Times Square.

Olflex's cable delivered power to 696 lamps illuminating the ball and helped control movement of 92 rotating, pyramid-shaped mirrors that reflected the light. These pyramids included 504 crystal triangles featuring Waterford Crystal's original "Star of Hope" design.

The ball's lights consisted of 600 multi-colored Philips light bulbs and 96 high-intensity strobes. This created a dazzling effect for the celebrating crowds at Times Square, not to mention national and international TV audiences.

Olflex-FD 855 P was used because it's lightweight, flexible, and tolerates temperatures from -30 to +80 °C without losing its flexibility.
