Nürnberg, Germany—SPS/IPC/Drives, the Electric Automation Technology Exhibition & Conference, held here Nov. 23-25, 1999, continues its positive growth in essentially all measurable categories. Visitors at the annual event increased 19% to 16,400, while 540 exhibitors (55 more than in 1998) occupied 30,000 m² of floor space at Nürnberg's Exhibition Center—a growth of 20%. In-depth technical presentations of the extensive conference program drew 690 attendees, virtually the same number as last year. SPS/IPC/Drives is considered a focused show, attracting expert, knowledgeable visitors. Yet, in keeping with the show's name, a wide range of technologies were on display—from digital and analog industrial communication networks, and industrial software to electric drives/motors, sensors, and machine vision systems.
