Automation Intelligence picks VenturCom's RTX

Staff -- Control Engineering, 8/1/1999

Cambridge, Mass.— VenturCom Inc. announced July 6 that Automation Intelligence Inc. (Duluth, Ga.) will port its 32-axis Advanced Motion Language (AML) software to VenturCom's RTX. Engineers can now implement AML-based real-time motion control systems across Windows-based platforms using RTX, which provides determinism to single-box, NT-based motion control systems. AML provides coordinated real-time control of multiaxis, high-speed, advanced motion machinery while operating on a single industrial PC. The software generates all motion control and I/O commands, which are communicated to up to 32 intelligent servo drives and I/O stations using SERCOS, a deterministic communications protocol optimized for motion control applications. SERCOS is recognized as an international open standard (IEC 61491).
