Intrinsyc, Siemens to introduce Open Platform Program

Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada-Intrinsyc Software and Siemens (Alpharetta, Ga.) will present new initiatives in Industrial Automation during a media briefing at National Manufacturing Week in Chicago next week. The media briefing will be held on Tuesday, March 6 at 11:30 a.m.

Paul Shelton, manager, Open Platform Program at Siemens, will join Intrinsyc to demonstrate Siemens' Open Platform Program for SIMATIC human-machine interface (HMI). This initiative allows customers to take advantage of the flexibility and cost advantages of Windows CE-based hardware. Intrinsyc has been appointed the sole North American certification and support provider for this new program.

Intrinsyc will also introduce plans for new industrial automation solutions in 2001, including:

• Intrinsyc J-Integra, a bi-directional Java-Component Object Model (COM) bridge written entirely in Java;
• Intrinsyc OPCShield, an 'industrial strength' extension of DCOM which enhances off-the-shelf OPC systems to improve production processes and quality control; and
• Intrinsyc deviceCOM for Linux, based on Intrinsyc deviceCOM, a full-featured, binary compatible, distributed COM services for Windows CE.

These and other products will be demonstrated at Intrinsyc's booth (#6119) at National Manufacturing Week in Chicago.
