Opto 22 launches new Ethernet software, services

Staff -- Control Engineering, 9/1/1999

Temecula, Calif.— To support Snap Ethernet I/O connected to its M4 series of industrial controllers, Opto 22 recently released its FactoryFloor 3.0 software to help users create control software, build operator interfaces, expand system connectivity, and complete automation projects more efficiently. M4 includes the company's M4RTU and Snap-LCM4 controllers, which use its new 100-Mbps Ethernet M4Senet-100 card.

FactoryFloor 3.0 includes four integrated components: OptoControl, a flowchart-based control program development environment; OptoDisplay, a graphical human-machine interface; OptoServer to provide OPC and DDE connectivity; and OptoConnect, which creates a bidirectional data transfer link between the controller database and Microsoft SQL Server or Access databases.

The company has also launched its OptoEngineering Services program that allows OEMs and large end-users to request customization of Opto 22 Snap Ethernet I/O products. The program provides custom application programming at the I/O level for control and communications. Embedded applications include machine control, remote monitoring, custom telemetry, and intellectual property protection. Customization options for Snap Ethernet I/O products also include web page development, e-mail plug-ins, and Simple Network Management Protocol agents.
