Manufacturing Marketplace revamp saves time, money

Staff -- Control Engineering, 4/1/1999

Newton, Mass.— Cahners Business Information introduced the next generation of its Manufacturing Marketplace web site on March 15. Located at www.manufacturing.net, Manufacturing Marketplace combines data from 23 industry-leading Cahners publications, five vertical communities of interest, customized news feeds, an exclusive stock index, original analysis, and comprehensive sourcing data designed to help professional users remove time and costs from manufacturing cycles.

The site's vertical communities include: Automation and Controls, Design Engineering and Development, Manufacturing Processes, Plant Operations, and Supply Chain. Each offers industry-specific news, product data, an events calendar, association links, and other features. Other new features include: Special Reports with analyses of critical manufacturing issues; an interactive Instant Input user survey; a Manufacturing 50 stock index; and an improved user interface allowing faster access and analysis of site information.

The site also offers: a global search tool with access to publication archives; customized daily news from Lexis-Nexis; the Manufacturing Yellow Pages that lists 58,000 products, services and suppliers; and Manufacturing Marketplace's customizable weekly e-mail newsletter. Cahners also recently partnered with Thomas Regional Directory to link its 180,000-supplier "Thomas Regional MRO Sources" with Cahners' MRO publications.
