Raleigh, N.C.— Over 70% of respondents to an unscientific online survey by the MotorControl.com web site say they believe integrated motors and drives may represent 20% of the ac drive market by 2005.

Many respondents added the best opportunities for integrated motors and drives are with OEMs that could design these devices into their equipment. They added these devices' main benefits include total installed cost, size, and emi issues. The researchers added, "Many people also pointed out these devices still had a long way to go, particularly on price, before they could gain widespread acceptance."
