The OLE for Process Control (OPC) movement is picking up speed as new members join and others create increasingly varied specification-compliant solutions. Many were showcased at ISA Expo/98.

• SST (Waterloo, Ontario, Canada) introduced its OPC (ActiveX for Process Control) servers for Microsoft's Windows CE and Windows NT. SST's solution is an in-process OPC server maximizing data throughput. These OPC servers are provided with SST's interface cards for ControlNet, DeviceNet, Profibus, and Data Highway Plus. The cards are available in a variety of computer architectures.

• Wonderware Corp. (Irvine, Calif.), a unit of the Siebe Intelligent Automation division, demonstrated its new OPCLink process control connectivity software. OPCLink allows FactorySuite 2000 to act as an OPC client and enables communications with in-process and out-of-process OPC servers. OPCLink uses the OLE for Process Control (OPC) open communications protocol to allow access to OPC servers as data providers for all modules within Wonderware's FactorySuite.
