Ann Arbor, Mich.— When space gets expensive, shallowness becomes a virtue. For instance, a new 18-in. flat-panel computer with active matrix LCD display from Ann Arbor Technologies, AAT2000, is only 8 in. deep and 32 lbs. This allows it to compete with 20-in. CRT systems that weigh 85-100 lbs. and are often over 30 in. deep. Ann Arbor reports this makes the AAT2000 much easier to mount and use.

AAT2000 also features a low 60-W power consumption, which means it doesn't need the costly auxilary air conditioning systems required by many 20-in CRTs. It further includes 1,280 x 1,024 SXGA resolution, an analog resistive touchscreen, a Pentium processor, 32 MB RAM, and a 2-GB hard drive. It's options include a Pentium II processor, 128 MB RAM, a CD drive, and 10 base T Ethernet.
