AC drive with enhanced vector control

Rockford, Ill. - VLT 5000 Series sensorless vector drives now include enhanced vector control that provides required torque at all speeds for ac induction motors in the 1-600 hp range. Called VVC plus, the control system is said to provide 160% torque over the drive's full speed range-down to and through 0 rpm in open-loop mode. VLT 5000 also supplies holding torque at 0 rpm in closed-loop mode. Among other VLT 5000 features are 3-msec response to load changes, choice of enclosures or chassis structure, the same control card and programming method for all unit sizes, and many options.
