Side-mounted valve positioner
Cincinnati, O.-Model 2-IQ is a side- mounted valve positioner intended for use with ball valves for process control. The device can change the valve's action at the touch of a button, perform split ranging without changing parts, characterize the flow pattern through the positioner, and make deadband adjustments. It also has a tight closing feature. The valve positioner can have an optional HART module, which allows communication with a PC or HART communicator over a 2-wire analog input signal. Particle size analyzer
Irvine, Calif.-Model LB-500 is a dynamic light-scattering particle size analyzer intended for submicron particle size measurement with the range size of 0.002 to 6 microns. The device can measure samples over a wide range of concentrations and most samples can be analyzed undiluted. The majority of samples can be analyzed within two minutes in convenient replaceable sample cells. LB-500 is lightweight and features a small footprint (12 x 16.5 in.) and is 12.6 in. high. Horiba Instruments Inc.

Digital pressure transducer
San Marcos, Tex.-Series 6000 digital pressure transducer is a low cost, high accuracy unit that uses RS-232 or RS-485 serial interfaces. The device achieves 0.020% accuracy FS over a compensated temperature range of 0-50 °C. This spec- ification includes linearity, hysteresis, repeatability, and temperature. A 20-msec pressure change response time and an output update of 50 readings/sec are also featured. The transducer is housed in a stainless steel enclosure and offers pressure ranges from 0-1 psi to 6,000 psi. Mensor Precision Instruments and Systems

Ethernet temperature measurement
Liberty Lake, Wa.-Model DTS3250 is an intelligent digital thermocouple scanner for temperature measurement. The device incorporates 16 pairs of temperature inputs, RAM, integral low-pass filters, a 16-bit A/D converter, and a microprocessor. All components are housed in a rugged temperature- controlled standalone module. An isothermal block is incorporated for universal temperature reference with ±0.1 °C accuracy. Temperature data are output in °C, °F, K, R temperature variables via Ethernet using TCP/IP protocol. Multiple thermocouple types including J, K, E, T, N, S, and R may be used. Scanivalve Corp.

Fuel analyzer
Irvine, Calif.- FOx F6000 is an accurate and comprehensive fuel analyzer for the analysis of gasoline, diesel, jet fuels, and kerosene. The analyzer can measure a large variety of oxygenates in real-world fuels and at the same time report benzene, octane, aromatics, olefins, RVP, and D88 properties is one sample analysis. The device is rugged, portable, automated, and is said to be used easily in the field by nontechnical personnel. Accuracy of the FOx fuel analyzer has passed the scrutiny of ASTM, government fuel enforcement groups, and refinery end-users. Midac Corp.

Cylinder has linear position sensor
Des Plaines, Ill.-The 2MA cylinder with linear position sensor for both hydraulic and pneumatic applications accurately senses a piston's position in relation to its stroke to the nearest 0.001 in. The device uses advanced cylinder design and sensing technology and comes in various mounting configurations. Bore sizes available range from 2 to 8 in. The cylinder is intended for material handling and pick-and-place applications. Parker Cylinder Division

High-precision pressure transducer
Stamford, Conn.-PX624 Series transducers combine precision and stability of the photo-optical sensors with state-of-the-art SMD electronics circuits. The devices are said to provide high performance with accuracy of ±0.05% of span or better. For barometric and absolute ranges up to 30 psia, a "getter" material in the evacuated reference chamber promotes long-term stability. This material acts as a sponge to absorb stray gas molecules as they are released from the reference chamber surface, ensuring the integrity of the vacuum reference over time. Omega Engineering

Single-slot Pentium board
Raleigh, N.C.-PENTX2 single-board computer (SBC) is available in 6U VMEbus, convection-cooled, militarized, conduction-cooled, and non-VME versions. The board is based on the 266 MHz Intel Pentium II and 440BX-support chip-set. According to its manufacturer, this is the first time a Pentium II-based SBC with so much PC functionality has been designed and targeted for embedded applications with QNX or VxWorks support. ISA peripherals such as keyboard, mouse, serial ports, parallel port, IDE, floppy disk interfaces are supported. Matrix Corp.

Wide operating temperature range dc/dc converter
Paterson, N.J.-Polytron Devices has added a wide operating temperature option to its existing line of 3W, 5W, and 10W dc/dc converters. The wide temperature option extends the range from -40 to 85 °C. The expanded range units are said to be ideal for all I/O board system and subsystem distributed power configurations where low voltage semiconductors are involved. These converters are encapsulated and operate without derating or heat sinking over their full specified temperature range. Polytron Devices Inc.

Power conditioner
Dayton, O.-Trolgard is a power conditioning system, a control module enclosed in a standard 2U 19-in. rack, that operates as a full time, standalone power conditioner. The device provides regulated output voltage and frequency, harmonic filtration, plus sag, surge, electrical noise, and brownout protection. It is equipped with two ports for remote communications. If the application requires blackout protection, the addition of an optional Power Pack and the rear panel selection of UPS operating mode converts the Trolgard control module into a full-featured UPS. The Trolgard system is available in 1 to 3 kVA ratings, 120 V or 240 V. Staco Energy Products Co.

Rugged, economical control cabinets
Bronx, N.Y.-Spartan cabinets are said to be a blend of ruggedness, simple clean lines, and economy, in standard vertical and sloped panel versions. They can be shipped in three to five days. Optional wedges allow users to "gang" cabinets together into customized console configurations. Front and rear doors are standard, as are removable side panels. A 10 x 10-in. square cutout is provided in the base for cable entry. Available in a range of heights, Spartan cabinets come in 19- and 24-in. standard widths. Premier Metal Products Co.

Line-powered ac voltmeter
Huntington, N.Y.-Model UP416ACV is a low-cost, precise 3-digit panel meter used for monitoring ac (rms) voltage. Measuring range is 0-550 V ac with an accuracy of 0.5% ±1 digit. The meter is powered from 110 V ac, 60 Hz or 220 V ac., 50 Hz and features snap-in panel installation. It also features a large 0.8-in high readout. Total power compensation is less than 5 W and conversion rate is approximately 2.5 times per sec. Operating temperature is 0 to 50 °C. Operating humidity is less than 85%, noncondensing.
