HMI configuration software supports NT/CE, OPC, VB, diagnostics

Alpharetta, Ga.-Siemens Energy and Automation Industrial Software Business Unit's version 5.2 of its Simatic ProTool configuration and visualization software offers a common platform to configure simple text, high-end graphical operator panels, and standard PCs. It operates with Microsoft Windows 95/98, NT, and CE, and supports Version 2.0 of the OPC (OLE for Process Control) data access specification, as a client and server. A new ActiveX interfaces supports Microsoft Visual Basic. Scripting language included reduces need for learning proprietary programming languages. A diagnostics tool delivers fault information to any Siemens display unit. Database integrates with Siemens Step7 programming language.
