Generator monitors and protects

Minocqua, Wis.-Gen Guard, a generator testing and protection system, provides early warning of insulation breakdown within the generator that allows maintenance personnel to safeguard against premature failure and the resulting downtime. The 480- volt generator is said to reduce downtime since they are pulled out of production on a predictive schedule rather than after a catastrophic failure. If an abnormal condition is detected, the generator can be locked out, or a warning signal can be sent, indicating the generator requires attention.
