Quadrature speed sensor
-- Control Engineering, 12/1/1999
Breckenridge, Colo.-Sensor Solutions' quatrature speed sensor, SS75C-200DSQ, provides two 90º out of phase digital outputs as gear teeth rotate by the sensor. Like a noncontact shaft encoder, this magnetic sensor measures speed, direction of rotation, and true angular position of any steel gear. The sensor comes in a 3/4-20 UNEF threaded aluminum housing and operates to true '0 speed.' Operating supply voltage is 8 to 24 V with an operating temperature range of 0-70 ºC and frequency range of 0 to 20 kHz.
