Programmable driver and stepping motor

Staff -- Control Engineering, 12/1/2001

Torrance, Calif. —New AlphaStep Plus combines a motion controller and driver into the size of the original AlphaStep driver. The driver-controller is programmable in four operating modes: positioning, mechanical home seeking, motion, and electrical home seeking. Users can control or link up to 14 motion profiles—in incremental or absolute mode—with easy-to-use software. A dumb terminal or PC hooks up to the driver via an RS-232 port for selecting and programming travel distances and operating speeds. AlphaStep Plus is available with various two-phase stepping motors that can operate in closed loop when needed. This occurs when AlphaStep Plus' rotor position detection feature senses impending loss of "synchronism." www.orientalmotor.com. Oriental Motor USA Corp.
