High-response motor family unveiled

Staff -- Control Engineering, 1/1/2002

Carlsbad, Calif.- CLD has introduced a new family of tubular linear motors with velocity ripple of ±1.0%, with enhanced response position control, and minimal outside disturbances. Enhanced performance is achieved by modifying the winding configuration to significantly reduce the motor's inductance. The new windings enable the motor to achieve position resolution up to 1 micron, even in 'high-stiction' and low-inertia applications. Additional features include one moving part, an integral bearing system, full programmability, compact size, and no backlash or compressibility to affect position accuracy. Standard stroke is 2-18 in. and peak force rating is 50-1,200 lb. www.calinear.com California Linear Devices Inc.
