Easy configuration

Staff -- Control Engineering, 1/1/2002

Eden Prairie, Minn.- Designed for applications with multiple motion axes, Modular Drive System (MDS) is said to be the most easily configured drive system on the market. It features an innovative backplane architecture that employs a common power supply to reduce part count and cost, simplify installation, and eliminate power handling issues found in other common bus systems. MDS consist of one to three power modules and up to eight drive modules. Five drive module sizes are offered to provide a full range of performance-matched solutions for a variety of applications. Continuous torque range is 18-1,000 lb-in. The drives can operate in three modes: velocity, torque, or pulse. www.emersonct.com Control Techniques
