Versatile PCI motion controller

Staff -- Control Engineering, 8/1/2000

Fort Smith, Ark.—A motion controller for up to eight "servo/stepper/vector motors," based on the PCI (Peripheral Component Interconnect) system, has been introduced. Called NextMove-PCI, the card uses a 32-bit DSP, runs at 50 MHz—supporting 200-nsec position capture—and works with encoder signals up to 7.5 MHz. The card is programmed via Baldor's MINT motion control language or "C." NextMove-PCI includes 20/12 digital I/O points (user configurable), analog differential inputs (±10 V, ±5 V, 0-10 V, 0-5 V), and two CAN bus ports. Numerous motion types and profiles are supported. www.baldor.com Baldor Electric Co.
