Fremont, Calif.— Elo TouchSystems Inc. has announced the first Universal Serial Bus (USB) compatible touch monitors that are pre-configured in the Microsoft Windows 98 operating system for instant operation in a plug-and-touch environment. These new products may be added to existing systems or networks by plugging them into the computer without the need for loading separate devices drivers. These new touch monitors include Elo's IntelliTouch chassis, the Elo IntelliTouch desktop, and AccuTouch desktop. Elo claims that USB offers a more robust, reliable interface and eliminates compatibility concerns. The touch monitors are the only devices automatically listed in the Windows Device Manager as Human Interface Devices (HID), meaning the monitors now can be configured like any other terminal or peripheral in this new plug, play and expand environment.

The ability to pick and mix peripherals results from new USB technology, which makes it possible to attach and detach different devices while the PC systems continues running. Elo TouchSystems Inc.
