Fremont, Calif. — Scientific Technologies Inc. (STI) has introduced intrinsically safe capacitance level sensors for use in hazardous areas. KRE Series sensors are IP 54/NEMA 4 protected, feature patented sensitivity selection, and are adjustable from a safe, remote location. The remote amplifier can be mounted up to 200 m from the sensor with coaxial cable, and a separation distance to 1,000 m is available, depending on location. Sensors are housed in aluminum die cast enclosures, and require a 120/240 V ac ±10%, 50/60 Hz (4 VA) 12 V or 24 V dc ±10% (4 W) power supply. The sensors handle vibration to 55 Hz, relative humidity to 85%, and temperatures to 104ºF.
