Synchronous controller simplifies system setup

Staff -- Control Engineering, 9/1/1999

Minneapolis, Minn.— Drive Control Systems has introduced the MS332 synchronous controller for use in ac and dc variable-speed drives in advanced motor control systems. The controller eases system set-up, monitors performance trends, and makes on-the-fly speed adjustments for maximum performance. MS332 automatically calculates the exact speed ratio between lead and follower systems during set-up. While running, its Machine Trending feature monitors machine operation and automatically fine tunes speeds to compensate for system imperfections like wear, stretch, and product deviation to help keep the machine in phase. The product's Programmable Event "Phase" Matching Rate feature allows gradual phase correction over multiple machine cycles, reducing maintenance expense and downtime for machines due to abrupt phase corrections. All calibration parameters have digital values recallable for repeated use in similar installations or when replacing a unit, dramatically reducing set-up time. Drive Control Systems
