DIN rail-mounted Ethernet hub
Staff -- Control Engineering, 8/1/1998
Riverdale, N.J.— The DIN-rail hub, which features "plug-and-play" assembly and fail-safe operation, is designed for use in industrial environments, and can be assembled simply with one movement on the rail. The device has two fiber-optic ports compliant to standard 10BASE-FL for connection to the plant backbone, and three twisted-pair ports compliant to 10BASE-T with robust DB9 sockets. This configuration allows connection of twisted-pair cables up to a length of 100 m. The rail hub operates at 18-32 V dc; the power supply can be installed redundantly for higher voltage availability. According to the company, Class-B interference immunity makes the DIN-rail hub ideal for operation in sensitive environments, and its solid chassis of die-cast aluminum is built to withstand rugged conditions.
