More than 1 million visits

Mark T. Hoske -- Control Engineering, 9/1/2002

If you build it, they will come. With apologies to a famous baseball movie and novel, that's also been Control Engineering editors' plan: deliver trusted, must-have editorial quality online as well as in print.

Annual online visits to www.controleng.com are expected to exceed 1 million in 2002, according to projections as of Aug. 16.

In print, online, via electronic newsletters, and webcasts, Control Engineering keeps readers updated on the latest technologies in automation, control, and instrumentation—a top career concern among readers. Our 2000 reader survey said keeping current on technology was rated highest among respondents' concerns. Technical challenge ranked highest among important aspects of present job attractions.

Control Engineering editors deliver 12 issues and the Buyer's Guide and Automation Integrator Guide for readers in North America, six issues for European readers with Control Engineering Europe, and a daily, global publication, Control Engineering Online, www.controleng.com, including 10 topical and targeted e-mailed newsletters.

April through July 2002, average monthly visits exceeded 100,000. Average annual monthly visits have increased more than 700% from 1998 to 2002 through July.

Control Engineering editors deliver fresh news, issues, and products about technologies important to readers. Items online first or exclusively number more than 875 items per year average for 2000, 2001, and 2002 (expected) at Control Engineering Online under News, Products, Web Exclusives, e-newsletters, and technology webcasts. That's in addition to Control Engineering and Control Engineering Europe print archives and other resources. Enhanced search functions, new in 2002, help readers find what they need.

Readers sign on to Control Engineering's 10 topic-specific e-mailed newsletters with sold sponsorships. Editorial content remains independent, written by editors to help readers do their jobs better. Free subscription and past editions are available on the home page of Control Engineering Online at www.controleng.com. E-mail includes graphics and photos (available in HTML e-mail starting in September); a text version is sent as needed or preferred. Opt-in readers are augmented with print edition readers providing e-mail addresses. E-mail delivery for each ranged from 19,000 to 35,000, as of Aug. 8, 2002, with additional viewers online.

At www.controleng.com/buyersguide, manufacturers can update their listings year-round, with features available to download papers, give presentations, and deliver an audio or video message, from an enhanced listing.

Control Engineering Automation Integrator Guide Online, the most complete resource of system integrators, is located at www.controleng.com/integrators, with eight ways to define and narrow a search.

Thanks for joining us. As always, please let us know how we can do better.
