End-users highlight Emerson's FRSUG meeting

Staff -- Control Engineering, 10/1/2002

San Diego, CA - Fisher-Rosemount Systems Users Group (FRSUG) Technical Conference 2002 on Sept. 3-6 at the San Diego Marriott Hotel and Marina featured technical presentations for Provox, RS/3, and DeltaV users. About half the presentations were made by end-users, while Emerson Process Management's (Austin, Tex.) product marketing and support staff and a few third-party suppliers gave the others.

There was also a small exposition area where some 45 stations were located. About one-third of the stations were demonstrations from companies, such as Hirschmann Electronics, Fluke, Woodhead Connectivity, Lutze, OSIsoft, Aspen-Hyprotech and Phoenix Contact. The remaining stations were demonstrations of Emerson Process brands including Micro Motion, Rosemount Analytical and Fisher Controls. End-users at the conference spoke about DeltaV system applications.

FRSUG's keynote address was given by Andy Chatha, president of ARC Advisory Group (Dedham, MA). Mr. Chatha encouraged end-users to focus on return on assets (ROA) and not on total cost of ownership (TOC) to obtain operational excellence.

The event's organizers announced that FRSUG 2003 will be held Sept. 29-Oct. 3 at the Gaylord Opryland Resort and Convention Center (Nashville, TN), and that it will bring together all of Emerson Process Management's divisions.
