San Jose, CA - Adept Technology Inc. announced Sept.13 that it has completed its acquisition of a controlling interest in MetaControls Technologies Inc. (Morrisville, NC) in a common stock transaction. The acquisition extends Adept's product line to include subcompact motion controllers/motor drivers, and machine vision cameras that are networked via FireWire, the IEEE 1394 high-speed bus. MetaControls' products plug directly into the Adept control architecture, and provide miniature amplifiers and controls, for precision machinery. They can also plug directly into a PC for simple applications, eliminating motion control boards and a significant amount of cabling.
