Exclusive: Embedded SPC software designed specifically for InTouch applications

-- Control Engineering, 10/1/2002

Portland, OR - Northwest Analytical, Inc. has introduced NWA SPCx, a software product that is said to make it easy to embed ActiveX-based real time statistical process control (SPC) into Wonderware InTouch applications.

According to NWA's vp of development, Louis Halvorsen, ''Wonderware users have been asking for a product that offers greater SPC capability along with simpler configuration and maintenance. With SPCx, we've delivered what they've been asking for-embedded SPC that is easy to install, easy to use, and has many additional features.''

SPCx provides all standard SPC control charts, assign-able cause/corrective action, exception reporting, status screens, alarming with no scripting, and the configurability of NWA's Quality Analyst software.

Other product capabilities include:

  • Point-and-click set-up and configuration through the SPCx Configuration Manager. No InTouch scripting is required even for ad-vanced features;
  • Direct connection to InTouch or InSQL tags with time or event-based sampling;
  • Mapping of user-defined variables to InTouch tags to populate SPC charts with live data;
  • Attachable to any ODBC or OLEDB database;
  • Different configurable views of data (status screens, control charts, and exception reports);
  • Multichart view configurable to display up to twelve SPC charts updated in real-time;
  • Free-form text comments that can be attached to any data point on a chart;
  • Assignable cause selectable from a list or entered as free-text;
  • Corrective action selectable from a list or entered as free-text, and
  • Ability to store Assignable cause, Corrective action, and user comments in any ODBC-compliant database.
