High-response motor family unveiled

-- Control Engineering, 1/1/2002

Carlsbad, CA - California Linear Devices has introduced a new family of tubular linear motors with velocity ripple of ±1.0%, which is said to provide more responsive and accurate performance, better control, and minimizes the effects of outside disturbances. Its enhanced performance is achieved by modifying the winding configuration to significantly reduce the motor's inductance. The new windings enable the motor to achieve position resolution up to 1 micron, even in high-stiction and low-inertia applications. Additional features include one moving part, an integral bearing system, full programmability, compact size, and no backlash or compressibility to affect position accuracy.
