Magnetic linear encoder raises accuracy
-- Control Engineering, 5/1/2003
Shown at NMW 2003 in Chicago, Ultra Magnescale linear position encoder technology offers increased accuracy and reliability under harsh conditions that targets replacement of optical encoders. Overall footprint is nearly is identical to optical scales. Use of a new tape coating material allows Model SR33 to achieve 40 µm basic resolution (pitch). With lower interpolation error, the encoder is said to have ±3 µm positional accuracy. Ultra Magnescale has several output signal options. Besides a 1 Vp-p analog signal with Model SR33, A/B quadrature signal is available with Model SR34 delivering resolutions of 0.05, 0.1, or 0.5 µm.
