The result is the ability to obtain critical data to achieve control of fluid connections in medical, chemical handling, printing, and other varied applications. The technology adapts proven wireless identification technologies to connections: the insert portion of a Smart Coupling contains a radio frequency tag programmed with unique product history (stocking history, package size, etc.); the body portion reads the tag and communicates with a variety of devices, such as computers and PLCs, using standard data interfaces.
