IKey Industrial Peripherals is gaining attention by decreasing its profile, at least with respect to its new SlimKey industrial keyboard. With an ABS polycarbonate case, SlimKey is 0.8 in. (20 mm) thick, and includes a three-button HulaPoint pointing device, eliminating need for an external mouse. This offering adds to iKey's line of NEMA-rated industrial keyboards, computer pointing devices and flat-panel monitors. By comparison, iKey's DU-5K product is 1.5 in. thick.

SlimKey also has 102 keys, including 12 function keys, a Microsoft Windows key, and standard number pad. It has red LED backlighting. NEMA 4X specifications make it dustproof, waterproof, and resistant to corrosive liquids. SlimKey's industrial silicone rubber pad makes it ideal for handling washdown and disinfecting solutions. In fact, SlimKey is becoming popular in the healthcare industry, because its sealed silicone pad is easily wiped down and disinfected. The company adds that SlimKey is also selling onto factory floors and into food processing plants.

In addition, SlimKey comes as a desktop or mobile model with mounting holes and is PS/2 and single-cable USB compatible. SlimKey's desktop and mobile models are available without the integrated pointing device, and it's also available without backlit keys.
