Managing data to increase efficiency, safety

Honeywell Industry Solutions' Experion PKS

Staff -- Control Engineering, 1/1/2004

Experion PKS (Process Knowledge System) industrial automation system is the system platform for Honeywell Industry Solutions' PKS suite of knowledge-driven applications, technologies, and services, which are designed to help capture and manage information for increased production, safety, and profitability. Experion PKS uses distributed control technologies and advanced applications, and has built-in abnormal situation management research.

The company adds that Experion PKS is designed to help users achieve Six Sigma operational excellence with 99.999% control system uptime. To help reach this goal, Experion PKS goes beyond DCS by integrating advanced process knowledge applications deep in its system architecture. This approach enables users to capture, manage, and drive knowledge across their entire business enterprise, and help achieve improved plant uptime; reduced plant lifecycle costs; avoid asset degradation; improve alarm system management; increased operational effectiveness; and ensure safe production.

Experion PKS has been developed for industries including refining and petrochemicals, oil and gas, pharmaceuticals, chemicals, consumer goods, power, mining, metals and minerals, and pulp, paper and printing. www.acs.honeywell.com
