'electronicaUSA with the ESC' just around the corner

Staff -- Control Engineering, 3/1/2004

San Francisco, CA Billed as the "most comprehensive systems design educational forum in North America," "electronicaUSA with the Embedded Systems Conference" (ESC) will run March 29 to April 1 at the Moscone Convention Center. Organizers expect 14,000-15,000 attendees to visit about 400 exhibitors in 18,000 m² (194,000 ft²) of display space, and attend more than 300 tutorials, workshops, and technical sessions.

electronicaUSA/ESC's format is an expansion of last year's ESC, and will include four separate technical conferences. Embedded Systems Conference focuses on embedded and real-time systems for communications, industrial applications, aerospace, automotive, medical, and computer peripherals. Power Electronics Conference covers issues related to the latest power system solutions, such as intermediate bus voltage (IBV) power architecture, smart synchronous rectification, and technologies for bus converters. Communications Design Conference (CDC) and Emerging Technologies Forum (held on the exhibit floor) round out the conference program.

Keynote presentations include: deep-sea explorer Dr. Robert D. Ballard, who will deliver the event-opening keynote, "Living the Dream: Lessons Learned on the Ocean Floor," at 10-11 a.m. on March 30; Alexander Lidow, International Rectifier's CEO, will present the Power Electronics keynote, "Systems Approach to Solving Challenges in Power Management: From AC Mains to Points of Load," at 3:45-5:15 p.m. on March 30; and Jerry Fiddler, Wind River Systems' founder and board member, will give the ESC keynote, "Envisioning the Connected World," at 10-11 a.m. on March 31, 10-11 a.m., offering a view of an always-on future, and how that connected world will evolve through convergence of multiple technologies, resulting in one giant, interoperable system.
