Coriolis flowmeter independent of fluid properties

Endress+Hauser's Proline Promass 40E

Staff -- Control Engineering, 1/1/2005

Proline Promass 40E Coriolis mass flow measuring system from Endress+Hauser is compact, flexible, and insensitive to changes in operating environment. No upstream filters are necessary because solid particles reportedly can't damage the meter, which has no moving parts to wear out. The unit also is independent of fluid properties, and isn't sensitive to changes in viscosity, temperature, and pressure in the process.

Endress+Hauser reports that Proline Promass 40 E's low cost and basic functionality make it an economical alternative to conventional, mechanical volume flowmeters for straightforward mass flow measurement. The firm adds that the unique design of the flowmeter's E sensor, its small footprint, high immunity to pipe vibrations, and its maintenance-free design allow it to serve in many applications, including those processing de-ionized (DI) water, paints, lacquers, solvents, entrained solids, edible and other oils, and combustion fuels, as well as batching and inventory of commodity products in the food and chemical industries.

Some of Proline Promass 40E's other features include: balanced dual-tube system; nominal diameters of 3/8 in. to 2 in. (DN 8 to 50); "fit and forget" installation; robust NEMA 4X (IP67) field housing; remote operation via HART; two-line, backlit display (optional) for reading important process variables; guaranteed product quality, suitable for CIP/SIP cleaning; and 3A authorization. www.us.endress.com/flow
