Reported to be the only portable, clamp-on flowmeter for ultrasonic gas flow measuring, TransPort PT878GC from GE Infrastructure Sensing measures gas flow rates, logs data to internal memory, and exports flow data to a computer. It's designed for natural gas pipelines, compressed air, inert gas, or compressed gas applications. The unit works with gases at high or low pressure in 3 in. (75 mm) to 24 in. (600 mm) pipes and at temperatures up to 230 °C. It measures velocity, volumetric rate, totalized actual and standard flow, with very wide rangeability, and accuracy of better than ±2% of reading with ±0.5% repeatability.
A portable version of the company's DigitalFlow GC868 flowmeter, TransPort PT878GC is a self-contained, transit-time, ultrasonic flowmeter. All equipment, including sensors and its handheld computer, can be packed into a briefcase-sized case. Its compact size, low weight, rechargeable battery pack, and universal power supply/charger allow it to be used in any location. The flowmeter also has built-in data logging for 100,000 measurements and sending flow data to a PC.
Ideal for short-term flow survey work, TransPort PT878GC also is especially useful for measuring erosive, corrosive, toxic, high-purity, or sterile gases. It has no moving parts; works for eight hours on battery power; causes no pressure drops; and has wide turndown.
