Solutions shine at National Manufacturing Week 2005

Staff -- Control Engineering, 3/1/2005

Chicago, IL—Hundreds of innovative products were highlighted at National Manufacturing Week 2005, March 7-10, at McCormick Place. Here are some of the show's most significant exhibits:

Alden Products' Pulse Plus and Harting Electric's Han QCS quick-mating, multi-coupling connector system offers backwards compatibility with M12 threaded couplers for four-pin, Ethernet-based applications. The new receptacle is capable of hosting multiple coupling interfaces in the same space as a traditional M12 threaded coupler. www.aldenproducts.com

Baldor Electric Co. reports its new adjustable speed control will initially have a horsepower range of 1-60 hp, but adds it will eventually stock 1-450 hp H2s, and will custom design units through 1,500 hp. High-performance applications will be easier when using H2's encoderless-vector, vector, and ac servo motor control selections. www.baldor.com.

TeleChief Series is Control Chief's most affordable remote control system for industrial equipment applications. These rugged, weather-resistant remote controls can give users safe, convenient control from up to 325 feet. The firm is also exhibiting its Summit Series remote control systems, which are designed to replace cumbersome, hardwired pendant devices. www.controlchief.com

Hoffman has expanded its family of large, freestanding A38 and A38D Type 1 enclosures to include one- and two-door general-purpose and one- and two-door disconnect models. A38 provides an economical alternative for applications that don't require sealed enclosures, and it is designed to protect equipment in commercial buildings and in cleaner industrial environments. www.hoffmanonline.com.

ifm efector's new inspection sensor, efector dualis, monitors error-proofing applications to provide 100% inspection testing throughout an assembly automation process. Using contour evaluation, the sensor monitors applications, such as missing part, good part/bad part, correct orientation, and right part/wrong part to detect component defects. www.ifmefector.com

Lapp USA reports that its Unitronic Etherline FD P Category 5 Plus is a halogen free, fine-stranded, oil-resistant polyurethane (PUR) cable designed for use in continuous flex applications. The cable's specially designed internal core wrap ensures proper cable performance during flex motion. www.lappusa.com
