Engineers and IT professionals form legacy services firm

By Staff -- Control Engineering, 11/1/2005

Evergreen Enhancement Inc., a team of manufacturing engineers and IT professionals, is a start-up company aimed at providing engineering support for embedded technology legacy products, particularly critical hardware and software systems in high technology manufacturing environments.

According to William Kerr, Evergreen Enhancement founder and CEO, "Many high tech manufacturers are dependent on older systems. They simply can't change to the newest equipment overnight and expect to meet deliveries and remain competitive. Unfortunately, many of the engineers responsible for these embedded technology systems are long gone and the original manufacturers usually only want to see an update replacement."

Kerr says the key benefits of Evergreen Enhancement's approach to legacy system uptime are cost avoidance and risk reduction. By eliminating the risk of losing valuable machines either through physical unavailability or production scheduling conflicts, delivery promises are kept and manufacturing costs are held in check, he says.

Evergreen Enhancement's specialists' skills include PC and microprocessor-based systems, basic analog and digital circuits, systems integration, communications protocols, robotic and motion control, and project management.
