Embedded module has wired, wireless capabilities

Staff -- Control Engineering, 5/1/2006

ConnectCore Wi-9C is said to be the industry's first embedded core module with integrated wired 10/100 Mbit Ethernet and secure 802.11a/b/g wireless LAN networking capabilities. Device allows manufacturers to design in wired and wireless networking functionality with one system. Powered by the company's ARM9-based NetSilicon NS9360 processor, the module is a complete main processing system pre-certified to eliminate costly certification delays during wireless product development. Core is interchangeable and pin-compatible with the ConnectCore 9C, an embedded core module for wired networking. Wi-9C is RoHS-compliant and provides up to 256 MB of SDRAM and Flash memory and integrated wired/wireless networking in a compact SO-DIMM form factor. Operating temperature range is -40 to 85 °C. www.digi.com Digi International
