Control Engineering names Welander as process industries editor

Staff -- Control Engineering, 8/1/2006

Peter Welander has been named Control Engineering's process industries editor. This new classification is designed to increase the publication's already strong coverage of this key automation industry segment. Welander comes to this position from an extensive career in marketing and engineering of technical products in a wide variety of industries.

"Through my career I have been responsible for solving customer's problems through the use of specialized industrial products. Now I can put that to work in a new context with a much broader spectrum of issues," said Welander. "Control Engineering provides a unique opportunity as industry leader with exceptionally strong editorial content and reader involvement. I look forward to this challenging new role."

Welander has worked most recently, both full-time and freelance for Lechler Inc., of St. Charles, IL. While there he managed the chemical processing and environmental divisions, as well as the design engineering department. He has published a number of technical articles and presented at the Chem Show, Cement Conference and other industrial venues. Welander replaces Dick Phelps, who became an analyst.
