Staff -- Control Engineering, 9/1/2006
Seeker series R-500 robot is designed for repeated use in reconnaissance and surveillance to identify and destroy improvised explosive devices (IED) and other threats. The robot is part of the next generation of the seeker series from the technical solutions group (TSG) of Applied Marine Technology Inc. (AMTI), and is also designed to deploy a sensor to collect intelligence on chemical, biological, and other types of threats.
Robot features include optics and user viewing that give operators the feeling of being in the driver's seat, a “heads-up display” for hands-free viewing or an LCD display for collaboration viewing, an optional helmet-mounted viewing device, and simple operation similar to hand-held video game devices. It measures 16 in. high x 22 in. long. www.amti.net
